Oriental Village is located at the foot of Gunung Mat Cincang, and the entry to the Cable Car. The picturesque Oriental Village offers a host of fun things to do, eateries, and shops. Ever see a painting that captures your imagination so much you wish you could magically become a part of it? Langkawi’s new Art in Paradise Interactive 3d Museum allows you to do just that. Flee charging elephants, surf a big wave or traverse a raging river, the museum’s more than 100 paintings will transport you into another realm. Amazingly detailed, these paintings were created by 23 master artists who spent months meticulously hand painting each scene to capture a true 3D effect.

LANGKAWI CABLE CAR & SKY BRIDGE
On the top (literally) of every visitors list is the Langkawi Cable Car and Sky Bridge. The Cable Car takes you to the top of Gunung Mat Cincang, the second highest mountain in Langkawi at 700 meters above sea level. A birds eye view of Langkawi and on a clear day you can even see Thailand! The view is truly spectacular. There is a set of stairs that lead to an observatory deck and a Sky Bridge that leads you to another mountain. Food and beverages available at both platforms as well as reflexology therapy for those that have been climbing the stairs. It can get a bit cool up there, perfect for a hot sunny day.

MARDI AGRO TECHNOLOGY PARK
The Agro Technology Park was opened to the public in 1995 as an information and learning center for the agriculture industry as well as a lure for eco-tourism. There are more than twenty varieties of familiar and exotic fruit grown within the park and guides are available to answer all your questions. The fruit that is in season is always available for tasting and you can even pick your own and eat them while you take a moment to enjoy the river setting. *Open: Daily (closed Friday) Can read more HERE
AYER HANGAT (HOT SPRINGS)
The origin of the salt water hot springs is traced to the base of Gunung Raya and a volcanic eruption, some million years ago. The salt water being rich in minerals and sulpher is believed by some to have medicinal qualities. There are 12 private Jacuzzi areas to hire or you can relax under one of the shaded pavilions and soak. After soaking your feet you can walk along one of the pebbled reflexology paths.

MANGROVE TOURS
Mangrove tours and adventures can be experienced either in a kayak or by small boat. During the 4 to 5 hour tour you will see the wide variety of flora and fauna that makes up this complex ecosystem. Explore the unique limestone cliffs, outcrops and caves that are some of the 550 million year rock formations that made this a designated Geopark by UNESCO in 2006. Along the tour you will see fossils from the Cambrian period and visit a former cottage industry based on charcoal from mangrove wood. AL-HANA MOSQUE IN LANGKAWI
Al-Hana Mosque is one of the largest and most popular mosque in Langkawi. Built in 1959, its opening was commemorated by the first Prime Minister of Malaysia, Tunku Abdul Rahman. The Islamic architecture incorporates motifs and carvings from Uzbekistan as well Malaysia. Visitors are welcome. There are no shoes allowed in the carpeted prayer hall and women need to be modestly dressed. Respect should be shown for those at prayer. *Open: Daily
Island Horses is the only Malaysian Arabian Horse breeding stable in Malaysia. This superb equestrian center is located at the base of Gunung Mat Cinang near the Oriental Village. They offer guided beach rides or for the more advanced horseman jungle riding. Island Horses’ riding program is suitable for all riding levels. DATARAN LANG (EAGLE SQUARE)
The reddish-brown ‘eagle’ (or Brahminy Kite) at Dataran Lang was built as an emblem of the island to greet all visitors arriving by ferry. According to folklore, Langkawi’s name came from two Malay words : eagle (helang) and reddish (kawi) ‘Langkawi’. *Closed March 2020. The Buffalo Park is surrounded by paddy field, rubber trees and tropical rain forest. The park is home to both Murrah and Water Buffaloes, where they are mainly used for milk production. The milk is then processed to make yogurt, cheeses and delicious ice-cream. In addition to the on-site dairy creations, there is buffalo feeding and riding and you can even try your hand at ‘milking’.

DURIAN PERANGIN WATERFALL
Durian Pergangin Waterfall is located on the northern side of Gunung Raya, the highest mountain of Langkawi. There is a small village at the entrance that offers food and beverages and local crafts. At the lower falls there are several small pavilions on the banks of the river. The upper falls is a short climb and has a deep, cool pool for swimming at the base of the high falls.

The Galeria Perdana has over 2,500 items exhibited and an amazing hand painted ceiling! The ‘gifts’ on display were given to former Prime Minister Tun Dr. Mahathir , from other world leaders during his years as Prime Minister. Items range from hand-carved Malaysian architecture to motor vehicles and exotic plants. The Galeria is housed in several Malay style buildings surrounded by beautifully landscaped grounds and gardens. LAKE OF PREGNANT MAIDEN
Tasik Dayang Bunting (The Lake of the Pregnant Maiden) is the largest lake in Langkawi. Located on the island of Pulau Dayang Bunting (next to Pulau Tuba) Tasik Dayang Bunting is said to be guarded by a white crocodile that brings good luck , but there is also more interesting folklore surrounding the area. It is also believed that drinking the waters from the magical lake can help childless women procreate. *Open: Daily
LAGENDA LANGKAWI DALAM TAMAN
This popular recreational park has a landmarks depicting Langkawi folklore and legends. There are also 4 man-made lakes and landscaped gardens with playgrounds for the children. Only a short walk from Eagle Square. *Open: Daily/ Entry: Free Can read more HERE
Mahsuri’s Tomb is the shrine of a Malay princess who was unjustly accused of adultery when her husband went off to war with Siam. With her dying breath she cursed Langkawi with seven generations of bad luck. This happened about 200 years ago so the curse is now officially over and consequently Langkawi is prospering after being a small and sleepy island. There is addition to the marble tomb a museum that displays some of her jewelry, examples of life at that time and the knife that was used to kill her.

ATMA ALAM BATIK ART VILLAGE
Atma Alam Batik Art Village is a wonderful place that showcases the fine art of batik. The owners Aza Osman, a painter and Roshadah Yusof , a batik artist/designer, not only exhibit their own works of art but the artwork of some very talented local artists. They also have an amazing assortment of fabrics for sale as well as classes available. *Open: Daily
TELAGA TUJUH WATERFALLS
Telaga Tujuh (7 wells) is located at the base of of Gunung Mat Cincang and not far from The Oriental Village. The lower falls are spectacular during the rainy season. The upper falls has seven connecting natural pools and small waterfalls suitable for swimming and wading. There are also small pavilions and picnic areas. FIELD OF BURNT RICE
The ‘Field’ of Burnt Rice is the historic site of a rice field and the main granary for storage for the island. In 1821, local villagers burned their crops, the granary and poisoned their wells to stave off the advances of Siamese invaders. Locals say that after a hard rain some of the burnt grains of rice still come to the surface of the surrounding paddy fields. *Open: Daily/ Entry: Free Can read more HERE
GUNUNG RAYA
The highest peak in Langkawi is 850 meters above sea level. There is access to the peak by paved road and an observation tower at the top that also has a small restaurant. Though often in the clouds this is the best panoramic view of the entire island. The slopes of Gunung Raya are also renowned for bird watching. Museum Laman Padi opened in 1999 as an exhibition center for local artifacts, charts, photographs and rice planting tools. The museum dioramas depict rice cultivation from planting to harvest. The Laman Padi also offers visitors a chance to wade into the paddy and learn first hand how labor intensive this crop can be. Every year a variety of events are held at this festive location. Langkawi Kraft Komplex houses three museums on the Heritage, Culture and Wedding practices of the 13 states of Malaysia. The exhibits are all fascinating and informative. There are also local craftsman demonstrating glass blowing, weaving, carving, paper making and batik (which you are encouraged to participate in). This is one of the best locations for shopping for traditional Malaysian crafts and art.

BAT CAVE /CAVE OF LEGEND
Langkawi is full of geological formations as well as hosting numerous natural caves. Each cave has its own unique name and legend, which is an insight into the lives of the original Island people. Two of the popular caves are the Cave of Legends and the Bat Cave.
*Gua Cerita, The Cave of Legends, consists of two limestone caves, one above the other.These caves are linked with numerous legends.
*Gua Kelawar, Bat Cave, was named after its first inhabitants, the Malaysian Fruit Bat. Located along the Kilim River, the cave is only accessible by boat. *Open: Daily
PULAU PAYAR MARINE PARK
Pulau Payar Marine Park is 19 nautical miles from Langkawi. The coral reefs here are made up of soft and hard corals with an abundance of tropical fish. Great for SCUBA, snorkeling or just a relaxing day at the beach. *Can read more HERE Can see a video HERE
KAMPUNG BUKU MALAYSIA
‘Book Village’ is located in Lubok Semilang. It was once the only book village in the whole South East Asia region and part of the International Book Villages and Book Towns Movement. Located just about 10 minutes from the Langkawi International Airport, the book village buildings are currently closed to the public. The adjacent park area is beautiful with a series of pools and waterfalls that are popular with the locals on weekends and holidays.
